Understanding Chiropractic Tests and Treatments

Hello, my name is Sarah. I was always an avid athlete until I suffered a serious injury in college. The injury caused extensive pain through my neck and shoulders whenever I made certain movements. I had to live with the pain for years as there were no treatment options that worked for me. I finally went to see a chiropractor who helped me recover from this injury. My site will talk about the diagnostic tests and treatments used by chiropractors. I will explore the various injuries and illnesses chiropractors can treat. Thank you for coming to my website. I hope you enjoyed your visit.

Need To Reduce Your Cortisol Levels? Ideas For You

Lucas Watts

When the body is stressed, it releases a hormone known as cortisol (often called the "stress hormone"). Cortisol, while an important chemical in the body when the fight or flight response is needed (i.e. in imminent danger), can cause numerous problems in the body. It can contribute to weight gain and infertility, for example. If you have significant amounts of stress in your life and need to reduce your cortisol levels, you may be wondering what you can do to achieve that goal. Get to know some of the ways you can reduce your cortisol levels so you can start as soon as possible.

Chiropractic Care

One of the ways that you can reduce your stress and therefore your cortisol levels is to regularly visit a chiropractor. When you experience tension in the body, muscles often get knotted and contract in the back. This can put pressure on the spine and can even push the spine out of alignment.

If the spine is not properly aligned, nerves running along it can receive undue pressure and can get pinched or blocked entirely. This causes problems throughout the body as important signals may be lost or incomplete. This, in turn, can make you more tense and more stressed than you would otherwise be, increasing your cortisol levels.

Going to a chiropractor can help to fix those spinal misalignments. They use manual techniques as well as specialized equipment to help manipulate your spine back into proper alignment. This allows the nerves to send the right signals (such as to reduce the production of cortisol) and can relieve your physical tension and stress. Most people report feeling extremely relaxed and much less stressed in general after their chiropractic sessions as well.

Massage Therapy

As previously noted, stress can cause muscle tension in the body. Chiropractic care addresses one of the potential consequences of that muscle tension, but not the muscle tension itself. For that, you need to see a massage therapists. Massage therapists use various techniques to relieve muscle tension including static and in-motion pressure, essential oils and lotions, aromatherapy, and tools such as hot stones, cups, and more.

Going to a massage therapist regularly can be a relaxing experience in and of itself as the aromatherapy and the soft music that is often played are soothing and designed specifically to reduce mental and physical tension. The muscle relaxation will further carry that relaxation with you into your life after the session. Ideally, you would see a massage therapist weekly or monthly to get the most effective results.

Knowing these ways to reduce your cortisol levels, you can schedule your appointments as soon as possible.
